Full-time, Part-time or Casual Staff
We are currently looking for highly professional, experienced Emergency and Critical Care (ER/ICU) Registered Nurses.
• BScN
• Active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Proof of PLP as mandated by the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Able to work with persons with Infectious diseases
• ACLS & BLS Certificate Required
• Critical Care Certificate (for ICU applicants)
• Proof of current immunizations for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella (MMRV); proof of negative TB skin test within 1 year
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an Emergency Room/Critical Care Unit
• Current N95 Mask Fit Test Certificate
• Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check
• Ability to work independently, or as part of a team
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
• Shift scheduling requirements:
• Must be available for “urgent or last minute” shifts, scheduled within 2 hours of shift start time
• Must be able to work the flexible shift times, depending on the facility, 8 or 12 hours in length
• Must be able to “float” from unit to unit within a hospital, depending on facility need
• Must be available to work all shifts — days, evenings and nights — including weekdays, weekends and statutory holidays
• Required to work 2 weekends per month
• Must be reliable (once availability is given) to be placed at an agreed upon facility/unit
• Must be in compliance with the Helping Hands Healthcare shift acceptance/cancellation policy (provided for review upon hiring)
Additional skills:
• Demonstrated knowledge in Palliative, Cognitive and Physical Support, Rehabilitation, Mental Health and/or restorative care
• Confident and able to complete all tasks that are within the scope of practice
• Able to handle stressful situations in a positive manner and be adaptable to working in a variety of clinical settings and facilities
• Provide direct patient care
• Follow the policies and procedures set out by the facility
• Well-developed interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
